At Holy Family Primary School we transformed the whole corner of a playing field into a large, landscaped, multi structural play area suitable for all ages at the school. It was a big project and we were happy to see the children using it to the max when we recently visited – not an area untouched!

Nestled amongst the mounds we landscaped and the wild-flower meadow we sowed, are features for all types of play and learning:
- A hobbit-hole, complete with tyre-wall flowerbeds
- An open-aired bandstand stage
- A climbing wall and bird watching tower
- A large circular sandpit
- A large spider-shaped climbing area
- A larger-than-life throne and outdoor classroom/storytelling area
- Den structures for cladding, including a reciprocating roofed round house!
- Vegetables and flower growing area

The school had an existing Scrapstore Playpod ™ and the new den building structures in the play field open up great possibilities for the children’s imagination! There’s space to run around amongst the wildflowers, hide-and-seek around the structures, and observe from the watchtower – perfect for group play, role playing and keeping fit!
We’re very proud that the school recently won the platinum play award from South Gloucestershire Council!
